His Story

Meet Abimbola Olawore

Abimbola Olawore

Abimbola is a pastor and theological student from Nigeria, currently studying online at Edinburgh Theological Seminary. Despite the vast distance, he has become a deeply respected presence within the ETS community โ€” a man whose faith, character, and dedication have left a mark on many fellow students.

He works in Nigeria, a country that faces some of the most severe Christian persecution in the world. In this context, his theological education is not merely academic โ€” it is the foundation for work that has profound, real-world consequences for the communities he serves.

The opportunity to spend time in Edinburgh โ€” to sit alongside other students, to experience fellowship in person, to receive teaching face-to-face โ€” would be genuinely transformative for him and, through him, for those he ministers to back home.

"I myself, along with each and every one of my friends at Edinburgh Theological Seminary can testify to the character and the impact this man has left on us โ€” even from behind a screen as an online student."

In His Own Words

Why This Matters

Context You Should Know

๐ŸŒ

The Highest Persecution Rate

Nigeria has the highest Christian persecution rate in the world. The men and women serving the church there do so at great personal cost. Abimbola is one of them.

๐Ÿ“š

A Rarity in Nigeria

Solid theological education is a rarity in Nigeria. Access to the kind of rigorous training that equips church leaders well is limited โ€” which is exactly why what ETS is offering Abimbola matters so much.

๐Ÿค

Fellowship Changes People

A few weeks of in-person study and community in Edinburgh offers something no screen can replicate โ€” a change in outlook that Abimbola would carry back home for the rest of his ministry.

"A really life-changing, and eye-opening experience that would be extremely useful for the work he is doing in Nigeria."
